SALEM, Ore. – City of Rogue River Administrative Services and Finance Director Paige Chick received the Civic Education Award Friday evening at the League of Oregon Cities’ (LOC) 101st Annual Conference in Salem. The award recognizes educators who have promoted local government education in Oregon schools.
About Paige Chick & Rogue River’s “Play in the Park” Day
Paige Chick’s creativity, leadership, and dedication were the driving forces behind Rogue River’s first annual “Play in the Park” Day. What began as a simple idea grew into a vibrant civic education event that brought children and families together to learn about local government, volunteerism, community organizations, and the people who serve their community. Paige created and led the event through a passport program featuring 22 activities. Local schoolchildren explored Rogue River’s public spaces while meeting volunteers, elected officials, city staff, and community partners. She also brought local businesses into the event by requesting small donations for participant prizes. Most importantly, Paige made civic education fun and personal. Through hands-on activities and real human interaction, children learned about civic involvement, stewardship, and public service while developing a stronger connection to their community.
